About Profe Tierney

Originally from Middleton, I am a graduate of Masconomet and the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. While in college I was fortunate to have the opportunity to spend my entire junior year studying in Sevilla, Spain. I graduated from UMass with degrees in Spanish and Biology.

After graduating, I devoted the next six years to working with children and young adults at City Year. I gained a multitude of experiences and opportunities: from tutoring bilingual 2nd graders in Chicago to planning service days in Mexico and developing hundreds of young people into leaders.

In September of 2009 I switched careers and became a teacher at Masconomet. Shortly after I began teaching I decided to pursue education as a career. I earned my Masters of Education from Gordon College and have just completed my Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Educational Leadership from the University of New England. I believe that all of our students have the opportunity to be great contributors to our society. The classroom is a stepping stone in allowing them to achieve this. I believe in challenging students through rigorous curriculum while supporting them along the way.

Additionally I am proud to support the Masconomet community as the Senior class advisor and the Spanish exchange program coordinator.
